Meet the Directors

dhc is owned and run by 4 working directors, read on to find out more about their background and experiences.

Richard Gyles

After a successful time at University where I managed to come away with a degree I spent 10 years working in large Blue Chip organisations in sales, marketing and systems roles. These involved working across departments and across countries in Europe although I was always based in the UK.

Tim and I had had several conversations over the years about running our own business and were both looking for a new challenge and so decided to set up dhc.  Since 1995 I have thrown everything into developing dhc being responsible for a number of areas as the business has grown.
Apart from my role as MD I head up the customer services team which looks after all our existing customers with responsibility for the Support function and ensuring our customers are aware of all the developments   within dhc and the products we provide.

Even with a hectic family life I like to get out and about completing long distance Mountain bike challenges (I highly recommend the South Downs way), skiing and windsurfing along with more suitable sports for my time in life such as golf and tennis.

Tim Bishop

After graduating from University I qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Whinney in London. Following this I moved into commerce where I spent 10 years in finance based roles (mainly IT industry) including two Financial Directorships. My enthusiasm for IT then shone through and I began taking a more hands on role in this area, expanding my experience to cover application development, database management, networking, extensive SQL and reporting.

In 1995 Richard and I set up dhc. Several successful years later, I now head up the implementation team with responsibility for managing this project lead environment. I continue to have occasional project management responsibility for exceptional (by size or nature) customer projects. In addition to this drawing on my Finance background means I have line management responsibility for the Finance function.

In my free time I focus on my family (wife and 2 young children) and I enjoy a very active lifestyle including windsurfing, snowboarding, golf and mountain biking to name a few!

Matt Garman

Matt first entered the software industry in 1992 when he joined a Sussex based reseller in a Junior Sales capacity.  Despite joining the business on a 'commission only' basis, eight years on, and after making a after a major contribution to the growth of the ApexIS business, he purchased the company and became Managing Director in the process.  At the end of 2006 Matt merged the financial software business of ApexIS with dhc and became an even shareholder with Richard and Tim, the founding Directors of the business.

Matt has a very energetic and enthusiastic approach to business, and within dhc, is involved in all aspects of Sales, Business Development and strategy for the business.

Despite being married with 2 very young children Matt still finds time for a number of typically sporty pastimes including rugby (yes he's still playing !!), indoor rowing (he's pretty good at !!), golf (he's pretty bad at !!) and swimming (he floats !!)

James Rowell

Following a number of years in education mainly focused on IT and engineering, I joined dhc in 2001 after completing a diploma in Computer Science.

I was seemingly in the deep end, trying to understand and support a great number of products. However I'm pleased to say I moved on quickly and after the first year started to concentrate on the technical side of the business, helping to evolve our products and development offerings.

Five years on and the company continuing to expand rapidly I was offered the official title as Development Director.

My day to day role is still very much hands on software development whilst I continue to manage an ever growing team of technical heads.

Personally I enjoy golf, films, good food and some theories of physics; the remainder of my time is spent in a dimly lit room trying work on new technologies for the next big thing!
